David Newton
David Newton was born in Rhode Island in 1962 and graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1984. He also has a Masters degree from Fordham University in Teaching and a second Masters degree in Art and Art Education. He moved to NYC where he held Art exhibitions, taught art and edited books. David and his family moved to Bellewstown, Co. Meath in 2002. David and his wife Linda have four children: Cormac, Ailish, Annie and Milo – and all have studied in Irish Universities. In his Art studio/workshop, he continues to create many artworks and objects originating in collage materials and often featuring everyday life themes.
Newton’s art showcases his fascination with daily life. He presents tossed-away moments of intimacy in hopes that the viewer will begin to witness his or her daily movements more closely and seek the underlying poetry shaping them.
“Whilst some artists aspire to calm and quietude, I aspire toward cacophony and collisions.”
