Bernie Davis
I am a self-taught Artist and have lived in Balbriggan all my life. I have spent many enjoyable hours joining in the Summer Festival, I have enjoyed many long walks on our lovely beaches.
I have been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to travel far and wide. The experience I have gained locally from travels have influenced my Art work greatly and later would influence my jewellery making.
I started to take an interest in art, (which I thought I was no good at but was encouraged to pursue it), way back in 1999 as a way to express myself. It has taken all these years and lots of doodling to get to where I am today.
I don’t know what I would have done without it, it has helped me through a lot in my life and is a great source of comfort and tranquillity. It is also great for our mental health.
It helped me to push myself into the unknown. I would consider myself an abstract Artist who loves to paint colours and shapes and just allow my imagination to run free.
My other passion is making jewellery from sea glass and other unwanted and discarded items.
I have had a few solo exhibitions and collaborated with other Artists in various venues around Ireland. I am now also part of an Art group which has been involved in a lot of community projects throughout the town of Balbriggan which include murals, outdoor exhibitions, and art trail and many more, the art group is The Fingal Lighthouse Art Group or FLAG for short.
I also have my own small business called “Beach Jewels By Bernie” where I make Jewellery from sea glass and other pieces of unwanted and discarded items such as broken pottery.
